This book is really really homosexual.

i thought the other poster was being crude, homophobic or close minded…naw…naawww!!! this book really, really is super duper, gay…and in more ways than one. it’s a formulaic rip off of so many witty ya books…then there’s the homosexual and overall sexual parts of the book…which seem to be there because the author thought kids wanted to hear that…or more likely, what he wanted them to hear…it’s creepy.

For people complaining it’s “gay”. It’s more bisexual, really. The main character has a girlfriend whom he loves, but is conflicted as he thinks he may also be in love with his (gay, male) best friend.
And, no, it wasn’t the author being “creepy” or writing “what he thinks kids want to hear”, that whole love-triangle type thing is based on his own experiences when he was that age.

FWIW, the bicurious subplot feels fairly normal coming-of-age level for a YA novel, and I strongly doubt anyone would get their panties in a bunch *about the children* if it had the exact same interactions but with purely hetero pairings.
