Raka Varoule is a second-rate investigative reporter, traveling between the 27 worlds of the Galactic Empire exposing minor scandals. His big break comes when he weasels his way onto the emperor’s personal star-cruiser to report live, across the galaxy, how the emperor is celebrating his birthday.
When he exposes the biggest scandal in galactic history, he narrowly escapes with the help of a drug runner, a dominatrix, and a monkey wearing assless chaps. Together, they search for an escape from the empire, a barbarian world outside Imperial control. Then things get weird.
Black Swan Planet is a rare treat of a novel. A satirical science-fiction story told in a unique way, utilizing a variety of perspectives. This story will make both laugh out loud and keep you guessing what will happen next. James Peters has woven a story you’ll never forget, even if you lack mnemonic implants or prescription vibrating undergarments.
“As funny as Hitchhiker’s Guide, but with a plot.” (Agent M.)
“I laughed. I cried. I peed my pants.” (Homeless Guy #2)
“You peed your pants before even picking up the book.” (Homeless Guy #1)

just from reading the synopsis, I’m kind of annoyed by the dig at the H2G2. What did Douglas Adams ever do to this guy ?

I agree The jabs at Douglas Requires Some mighty HUGE BALLS. I listened to a sample on amazon, Sounded like predictable comedy and the guy the reading book is just awful at creating voices, from the small sample i heard the guy reading might get annoying super fast with the really bad impersonations.

Worst book I’ve tried in a long time. Like kidcritical thought above it did get annoying really fast.
James Peters having a dig at Douglas Adams is just stupid as, unlike himself, Douglas could write an engaging story and had a sense of humour. They are not in the same universe let alone league.
The first couple of chapters don’t contain anything that could be mistaken for a plot, humour or writing ability. So many over-dramatic metaphors to add so little. Peter’s writing seems intended for those who find Jim Carrey too subtle and intellectual. The narrator could have a decent enough reading voice. Sadly he’s completely hopeless at accents, which usually arrive part way into the sentence. He insists on using those awful, always moving, accents for every single character.
James Peters and his narrator have earned a place on the Golgafrincham B Ark.

Pretty bad. Humour basically consists of a monkey repeatedly vomiting on the protagonist. Plot sounds like something a semi literate 12 year old came up with in a creative writting assignment.
